Week 8 picks

Wow. I was tired last night. I feel really bad about posting the picks on the day of the games, but I'm posting before 7AM EST, so it should be okay.

Backlog Bob's picks for Week 8 of the NFL (fanfare, cheering)

1. Vikings @ Panthers - Panthers by 7 (I refuse to pick the Vikes for the rest of the season.)

2. Packers @ Bengals - Bengals by 14 (The Packers offense might be just tame enough for Cincy's D.)

3. Cardinals @ Cowboys - Cowboys by 6 (FG fest - Cards might not reach the endzone all day. Then again, 'Boys might not either.)

4. Bears @ Lions - Lions by 3 (Garcia returns, Lions win by avoiding Chicago's ground war.)

5. Browns @ Texans - Texans by 3 (Their offense has a chance to redeem itself against another truly bad team.)

6. Redskins @ Giants - Giants by 7 (You'd never know until you look at both teams' home/away stats.)

7. Jaguars @ Rams - Jaguars by 10 (The Rams are exhausted from 7 straight weeks of play, Martz is out, and they have a back-up QB going up against the 2nd stingiest pass defense in the league... but they are playing in St. Louis.)

8. Raiders @ Titans - Titans by 7 (My brain is yelling at me here: my gut told me to pick the Titans and not the Raiders last week, and was wrong both times... oh well. I still think the Raiders stink, so there.)

9. Dolphins @ Saints - Saints by 7 (Here's where NO stops the slide - what else can you do against the Dolphins?)

10. Chiefs @ Chargers - Chiefs by 13 (I can't stand everyone saying that the Chargers were this close, the Chargers blow out their opponents when they win, the Chargers are underrated, blah, blah, blah. The mediocre Chiefs will go to San Diego, put that whining to rest by beating the Chargers 41-28.)

11. Eagles @ Broncos - Broncos by 6 (Home field advantage.)

12. Buccaneers @ 49ers - Bucs by 13 (The Bucs will face the Redskins in week 10 without having played a good team.)

13. Bills @ Patriots - Pats by 6 (It's that time of year again, when playing in Foxborough, Mass. at night is not pleasant - unless you're a New England Patriot.

-Monday Night-
14. Ravens @ Steelers - Steelers by 13 (I'll give the Ravens D some credit by saying that Pittsburgh might have to score from a distance at times, but their offense -their what?- won't give them very much of a chance to stop the Steelers from scoring.)

Note: I'm glad Atlanta and NYJ got a bye this week. Watching them on Monday, you could tell they really needed it.

6-6 with Buffalo leading NE at half. Some excellent picks (Texans by 3) and some real dogs (Chiefs by 13 and Saints by 7).

And perhaps you'll give the Colts' D a bit more of their due after seeing how the Washington and Tampa Bay's defenses fared today.
