A thought on blogs themselves

Why are blogs oriented in reverse chronological order? I understand that there is a need to have something fresh and new to kick things off, but couldn't they be in chronological order with a sort of loop feature, so that one could start reading the entries in order or skip to the most recent one with the ease of a few rotations of the mouse roller button? If anyone who reads this blog knows the answer, please let me know by commenting on this blog entry.
